Cirencester Codes, Design Coding Pilot Programme

JRUD was involved in the programme of testing the benefits of Design Codes for the ODPM /CABE. The practice worked alongside Cotswold District Council to help steer a programme of appropriate codes for the development of a new urban extension to the town of Cirencester by Berkeley Community Villages and their consultants, John Thompson & Partners. The project involved stakeholder workshops, public participation, and special CABE testing programmes. Key issues included the levels of prescription required and the potential for the codes to be replicated elsewhere in the District.
