Loampit Vale Lewisham
The practice has been providing design advice to Lewisham Council on the design, quality and procurement of preferred developers for this important site close to Lewisham Gateway in collaboration with CB Richard Ellis and JW Project Services. The site will include a leisure centre, commercial/retail space and public and private sector housing. To do this we prepared a set of agreed design performance criteria, reviewed and commented on the emerging designs and established "workshops" with prospective teams and their architects to improve project designs. These "workshops" were geared to resolving weaknesses in the design performance from fundamental urban design and layout
considerations through to aspects of sustainability and detailed architectural design.
Following the Council's decision on a preferred developer, the tasks have changed to provide detailed design advice to the Council through continual review and interactive 'design surgeries'. Working with the Council ensures an integrated design response to the complexities of the scheme proposals as they fully emerge, and will lead to a swift planning application and approval process.
