Radcliffe Sun Quarter - Bury


Radcliffe is an old industrial town situated close to Bury. Following regeneration proposals, Bury Council established a competition for a Sustainable Urban Neighbourhood on Radcliffe�s riverside in the town centre. JRUD provided advice on the design, quality and procurement of preferred developers. The site included proposals for a new art gallery, bus station, market hall and a mix of dwellings. The practice prepared an agreed set of design performance criteria to help prospective developers and their design teams identify weaknesses in the propsals. We then used interactive 'design surgeries' to help the teams improve their designs. Assistance included advice on urban, landscape and architectural design aspects of the schemes.
